What a wonderful way to teach your children about the importance of praying the Holy Rosary this Advent season using The little Brown Scapular Coloring Book, The Story, Miracles, and the Rosary Prayer. This is a great way to get the entire family involved engaging them in fun faith activities.

At this point you might want to repeat whatever you feel your child needs more time to learn and take as many days you feel is needed to learn it completely.
Fruits of the Mysteries
Dec. 13th – Annunciation is Humility – Talk about how they can incorporate humility in their daily life. One example might be turning to God in prayer for help, not being excessive in anything they do and to imitate the Blessed Mother.
Dec. 14th – Visitation is Love of Neighbor – Talk about what they can do to be more charitable. One example could be helping someone in their class or a friend that is having trouble with their homework. Have your child reach out to that person asking them if they need help. Outreach to the community or a parishioner in your parish that you know is homebound or sick. Have them make cookies for that person.
Dec. 15th – Birth of Jesus is Poverty – Poverty in spirit. Meaning depending on God for everything, knowing the need for God, and being open to what God can do for them. Tell the difficult story of Mary’s birth when she had Jesus. Perhaps you had a difficult time with your birth and you can talk to your child about his/her birth.
Dec. 16th – Presentation of Jesus in the Temple is Obedience – This one could be tough 😊One example could be explaining to them the importance of rules. Especially rules of the household and listening to Mom and Dad. Ask them what would happen if we did not have any roads signs? Havoc and confusion. Perhaps tell them the importance of listening to their teachers in school, and how that would make the teachers life easier. Tell the story of when Jesus went off to talk to the elders in the temple and how upset Mary and Joseph were when they could not find Him. Maybe you had a similar experience with your child that you can share with them and how upset you were when they were lost. Again, the importance of stressing the rules of the household.
Dec. 17th – Finding Our Lord in the Temple is – Joy in Finding Jesus – Explain the importance of having respect for God and the teachings of the Catholic Church. The importance of going to church every Sunday and being reverent while in church. Explain to your child that Jesus is in the Tabernacle and the church is where He lives. Explain that when we are quiet, we can hear what Jesus is trying to tell us.
Now it’s time for some activities – coloring the rosary beads while praying the rosary.
Dec. 18th – Color while praying the first Joyful Mystery beads – get creative and use different colors or make a design.
Dec. 19th – Color while praying the second Joyful Mystery beads.
Dec. 20th – Color while praying the third Joyful Mystery beads.
Dec. 21st – Color while praying the fourth Joyful Mystery beads.
Dec. 22nd – Color while praying the fifth Joyful Mystery beads.
Dec. 23rd & 24th say the rosary as a family in front of the manger and get ready for St. Nicholas to come down the Chimney….and don’t forget to leave him cookies 😊
Have a Fruitful Advent Season and a Blessed Christmas!!
