St. Simon Stock receiving the Brown Scapular

St. Simon Stock’s Prayer to the Blessed Mother

St. Simon Stock wrote a beautiful prayer to the Blessed Mother asking for special favors when the Carmelites were being persecuted by the Turkish people during the thirteenth century. The night before the Blessed Mother appeared to St. Simon Stock (July 15) he wrote a prayer asking Her for help. He wrote:

“O most beautiful flower of Mount Carmel, Fruitful Vine, Splendor of Heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in this my necessity. O Star of the Sea, help me and show me herein thou art my Mother.”

The Flos Carmeli

This prayer is called Flos Carmeli which means Flower of Carmel. St. Simon Stock received the Brown Scapular the following day (July 16th) which is the Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.

Another prayer you can say every morning is:

O my God, in union with the Immaculate Heart of Mary (kiss your Scapular as a sign of your consecration: partial indulgence given by Pope Paul the VI for kissing it often). I offer Thee the Precious Blood of Jesus from all the altars throughout the world joining with it the offering of my every thought, word and action of this day. O my Jesus, I desire today to gain every indulgence and merit I can and I offer them, together with myself to Mary Immaculate, that she may best apply them to the interests of Thy most Sacred Heart. Precious Blood of Jesus, save us. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us. Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. Amen
